A man in a dark suit and tie boarded a Boeing 727 in Portland, Oregon, on the day before Thanksgiving in 1971.  The man, Dan (D.B. in the press) Cooper, then proceeded to hijack the plane with a bomb in his briefcase.   After receiving his demand of $200,000 in cash, 4 parachutes, and food for the crew during a forced landing, the plane took off again where Cooper lowered the rear stairs and jumped into the night.  No evidence of Cooper (alive or dead) has ever been found.  His politeness, style and enduring mystery have made him a legend.
